Mainichi Junk: Rally Round

I finally beat Neverwinter Nights 2 this morning. Spoliers: the ending narration is just as bad as everyone is saying it is. I’m liberated from the game, at any rate, and just in time – things are about to get horrendously busy again and it’s going to be all I can do to keep up.
Of most pressing import is today’s release of three eroge I’m likely to head to Akiba after work to acquire: G.J?’s Queen Bonjourno, Alice Soft’s Sengoku Rance, and Ail’s new game with the irresponsibly long title. I’ve been trying to figure out how I could limit myself to a single game this week and it doesn’t look possible; they’re all in genres so distinct I can’t choose the best of the bunch. Goodbye Comiket funds…
Speaking of Comiket, the C71 (December 29-31) catalog went on sale last Saturday, and should be available from a fine piratical distributor near you (please buy a copy if you actually plan to attend!). I haven’t grabbed mine yet, making it another item on the shopping list for today… at this rate I won’t have anything left over to spend at the event itself. ;;
If by chance you’re planning a trip to C71, please drop a note to comments! Word is that a rather sizeable segment of HD readership (all three of you~) will be making the pilgrimage this time around, and I’ve been kicking the idea of a post-event gathering of sorts around in my head for a week or so… if we have the numbers perhaps we can take over a certain cosplay restaurant in Kanda that comes highly recommended.
From the metapost division: I’m planning to get a revised Comiket Guide feature out before the event, and while hopes are dim for this weekend (what with new games in the playing queue and several unanticipated engagements) regular daily posts may resume as early as Monday. Let’s see if I can beat the odds this time around…

I wish I was going but I am shit broke. I might be able to make it… next… summer? Hell, I need to either learn Japanese more or I need to go and make it be like Genshiken 7. … It wouldn’t be anything like Genshiken 7.
Anyone with tips on good flight/hotel packages? Or cheap versions of either? Good airlines to take? PLEASE?!?!? COME ON!

Oh, how I envy you, Shingo …

Shingo, there’s no shame in killing for money, you know. Just change your name and always wear the same cold expression while thinking “……”

I wish I had more time to properly learn Japanese… because I wouldn’t want to go without being able to speak the language at least a little bit.
Shingo, you should seriously consider using one big priority queue instead of different simple ones and giving your posts the highest priority (note to self: stop to express yourself the geek way).

There’s also no shame in prostitution.

I’d recommend against a package – grab the cheapest tickets you can find to fit your timeframe, stay at a youth hostel or cheap hotel convenient to the Big Sight, and you’re good to go. Package tours are for the weak and uninformed (unless they manage to make them incredibly, mind-blowingly cheap).

I owe it to you to cover this stuff better. :(
It’s the least I can do. I hope you can make it over soon…
While thinking “……Ohno-sama…..”, am i rite? :3 Or perhaps “…..Musubi-tan…..”.
Some Japanese helps, but is hardly necessary to navigate Tokyo. They’ve made the process quite user friendly in recent years; English is all over the place. Once you learn how to navigate the train system you’re set.
I’m not sure I follow you with the priority queue, but if you’re saying I should put posts as the top priority item you’re probably right. It’s hard to divide time between actually enjoying stuff and posting about it, though. :/
The only girls I’d be interested in prostituting myself to are occupied with shoujo manga already, alas.

Don’t fret quite yet about those dire financial straits, Shingo. As a reward for helping to hire me to a teaching position, I’ll be there come Comiket to make a most propitious monetary deposit into those grubby hands of yours~.

I’m coming to comiket but still deciding which days.
The only day I feel I NEED to go to is marimite/rozen maiden non-porn day(day 1)… I’ll probably come to day 3 just to cruise around and if you’re planning on doing something after the event I’d certainly be interested in getting drink/food/whatever. I’m still questioning to myself whether or not I really can justify spending large amounts of money on porn doujin that are using other peoples characters to try and make significant amounts of money off them. I’m less bothered with the non-porn since the incidence of what I perceive as “profiteering” seems lower, but it might all just be in my head. It’s impossible to tell which big circles are doing it out of the love of the characters and which are doing it for an extra buck without asking them directly :/
